Our insane dog!

We went up to the cabin after Thanksgiving. We haven't been up there since this summer. It was chilly up in Cross Lake, but it was great to settle under a blanket and read my book. Bear was not so sure he liked the colder weather, but he liked getting to sleep in the cabin. Grandpa took Bear on lots of walks, which Bear loves because he does not need to wear his gentle leader or have a leash up at the cabin.

Saturday afternoon, Bear decided it would be fun to go SWIMMING in the lake, with the ice. There were sheets of ice floating in the lake. Bear tried to get up on one and ended up in the lake up to his head. He didn't like that much. He really liked to take chunks of ice out of the lake and bring them to me. I was not fond of that game!

He has gotten so big! Nearly 70 pounds now. He is a big lover and loves to play with all of us. Although, he tries to eat Gus!!

Memorial Day Weekend

So we had the awesome privilege to have Cora and Sophie join us at the cabin over Memorial day weekend. As Lowell put it best "wow, this cabin is louder this weekend.... it's fun!" Lowell liked having someone that just wanted to hang out in the kitchen and talk, and talk, and talk with him. Cora was very happy too. We all know she loves to chat!

Fishing, wading in the water, yelling at the dog, kicking our feet in the water, that sums up our weekend. Friday we get up to the cabin (Emily, Cora and Sophie). We decided to take Bear for a walk down to the beach, poor boy had been in the kennel almost all day. The next think I know, Sophie is walking in the water! Oh well, could be worse, the lake isn't frozen anymore... at least.... not solid. The water was SO COLD, but of course, the 5 yr old and the 3 yr old did not notice. They were having a great time wading around looking for rocks and shells. Sophie kept picking up a rock and say "for Mommy". It was so cute!!

The next big adventure was fishing. As you can see Sophie thought it was the best thing ever. As she tries to kiss her fish that was jumping around on the line. We had to bring a bucket down so that Sophie could keep one, or two or three. Again "for Mommy". Cora and Sophie each caught about 4 fish. It was a ton of fun!

Sunday we got to go for a boat ride! Cora and Sophie thought it was great. Lowell was the hero of the day, allowing Cora to drive the boat! She was awesome at zigzagging!

Their new friend is "Uncle Brent". Chris' long time friend, Brent, came up to the cabin too. He got undivided attention from the girls. They were, thanks to Uncle Chris, also his alarm clock (tickle clock).

All in all it was an awesome weekend... and we liked it not bee too quiet.

Animal Humane Society Walk

On Saturday, May 5th. Chris, Connor, myself and Bear did the Annual Animal Humane Society - Walk for Animals. We walked with my sister Sarah, Jim, Madeline, Elizabeth and Heike. It was a lot of fun. There were so many different kinds of dogs there. We even saw an alligator in a big plastic container being wheeled around.

Connor walked both Heike and Bear most of the way. Well, maybe they walked him! He had lots of fun running and playing with the dogs. Elizabeth was content hanging out with mom and Madeline did the "ride in the stroller, now I want to walk, no ride, no walk" routine.

We got home at about 12:30 and Bear slept the rest of the day. A tired dog is a good dog!

The Bear

So I mentioned that we have a new pet... BEAR! Our super cute, super lovable, black lab/chow mix puppy. He is about 3 months old, we got him from the Golden Valley Humane Society.
He is about 98% housebroken!! He loves his chew toys (lab) and his food. He literally jumps like a foot in the air when we grab his bowl to fill it. He loves to go for walks, and is learning to stay out of the way of Chris' size 13 feet. It'll be fun to see how big he gets. He's 22 pounds right now. The vet thinks he will get to be around 65 pounds!!
The only one that has not adjusted is Gus. He is not so sure that he likes Bear yet. He spends a lot of time upstairs now. He is super curious though. He just needs to learn to smack Bear in the nose and things will be good from then on.
Emily is now out-numbered 4-1 (4 males, 1 female) in our house. Total opposite from growing up!

Wish I had a camera

With this new blog, I now realized that I need to carry a camera around. Just in case. Chris and I took Bear for a walk around Lake Harriet last night and then went and got ice cream at Sebastian Joe's. Bear, being a puppy, was trying to find anything he could to chew on. At one point he found a white stick. They way he had it in his mouth made him look like he was smoking a cigarette. You would have had to see it, but dang it was funny. Yep, really need to carry the camera!

Our First Post

We thought it would be fun to try this out. We may or may not have things that are fun or interesting, but with an 11 year old,a puppy and a cat we should have some fun things to say.
